My First Car

1970 Plymouth Duster, Slant 6. Bought it for $200. This isn't my picture, but my car was exactly the same except I had a white vinal roof. Great shape too. I remember starting it up and running it in my back yard before I had my license. I'd just sit in it and pretend I was driving. I wish I still had it...

Dude, you're starting to creep me out. My first car was a baby blue, 1976 Plymouth Valiant with a slant 6 and white vinyl roof. I wrapped it around a tree doing 60. I cried a lot and still get misty to this day about it.

That is weird,...But it rules! I know you wrapped it around a tree, but I'll betcha that slant 6 is still running. Those things would run forever, even as the car itself rotted around the motor.

Unfortunately, the car was sold to a woman who had her "mechanic" work on it. Whatever he did apparently didn't include oil - that darned thing ran for a while with an empty pan until it seized up tight. She died and the car went to parts unknown.

Now that is a real tragedy. Dern mechanics and their "no oil needed" theories...

The Geo Storm was pretty bad-ass, though. I mean, for a guy like you anyway.

Hey, the Quiet Storm went for about 280,000 miles! That thing was indeed the cat's pajamas.
